You were told to avoid so many foods during your dental implant recovery. But now your powerful prosthetics have fully integrated with your jawbone, and you’ve gotten the “okay!” to expand your menu. You can’t wait to put your implants to good use and go all out!

First of all, congratulations! Dental implant treatment requires patience and dedication that should be celebrated. Why not kick off your restriction-free summer with a backyard cookout? Here are a few meal suggestions that’ll help you show off your new teeth.

Mediterranean Kabobs

Previously, tearing into a juicy cut of grilled chicken would’ve been hard enough. But to grab it off a stick? Now that takes some tough, durable teeth! Roast your kabobs with your choice of red bell peppers, zucchini, onions, and tomatoes for some more pizzaz, and don’t be shy with the garlic.

Bonus: the protein in your grilled chicken will strengthen your gums, while red bell peppers and garlic will help your immune system fight dental infections.

Classic Burgers

Is it really a cookout if you’re not firing up some burgers? Now that your dental implants are securely anchored, you’ll have no problem with toppings like lettuce and pickles. Incidentally, the calcium in lettuce is good for your bone health – that includes your jawbone!  To show your implant support system some extra appreciation, throw a slice of cheese or two onto your burger. Dairy is positively rich in calcium, you know.

Scrumptious Salads

Salads can be taken for granted by the average Joe, but you know how tough they can be to eat. So toss your favorite leafy greens and crunchy vegetables, and if you’re looking for more of a challenge, consider adding nuts like walnuts or pecans. Aside from being previously off-limits, they’re another bone-strengthening snack.

A Healthy Dose of Pie

Sugar is generally frowned upon in dental circles – for good reason! This sweetener will still fuel bacteria and lead to gum disease if you’re not careful. Still, it’s okay to enjoy desserts every now and then, and fully integrated dental implants are a special occasion. How about putting a fruit pie on the menu? Whether you prefer the snap of an apple filling or miss seed-filled berries, you’ll be able to sink your new teeth in with confidence.

Whatever you decide to prepare for your dental implant celebration buffet, you can be rest assured that they’ll see you through each and every bite. Just make sure to book a cleaning appointment with your dentist after your smorgasbord. You’ll be glad you did!
